How mutations work

Mutations are the income multiplier system. When a specific crop combination is planted and harvested together, a mutation activates and applies a multiplier to those plots’ output. Key rules:

  • Mutations stack multiplicatively, not additively. Two stacked mutations on adjacent plots can compound income significantly — this is not a linear bonus.
  • Not every crop combination triggers a mutation. Certain crop “families” (Tropical, Autumn, Acid-treated) have known interaction sets. Experimenting with sprays (Acid Spray, Autumn Spray from codes) reveals new mutation chains.

Seeds and crop tiers

Seeds are ranked from Common to Transcended — nine tiers in total. Each tier has higher base income and better mutation potential:

  • Common (Carrot, Beetroot, Pumpkin): Starting crops, low income, good for learning the loop.
  • Uncommon through Rare: Bridging tiers. Sell Common crops to fund upgrades through these quickly.
  • Epic through Legendary: Mid-game backbone. These are the crops you will run for most of your playthrough.
