How this tier list works
Pets in Build A Ring Farm are ranked primarily by earnings multiplier — the direct income boost they apply to your farm output — combined with the quality and frequency of their secondary abilities (mutation upgrade chances, plant growth acceleration, fertilizer drops). Rarity is shown for context, but a higher-rarity pet with a weak ability ranks below a lower-rarity one with a strong ability.
This list reflects the current Update 4 state. Pets that provide mutation upgrade chances become more valuable as the mutation tree expands with each update.
S Tier — Best pets in Build A Ring Farm
T-Rex (Secret)
The strongest pet currently in the game. T-Rex provides a 12× to 15.5× earnings multiplier — the upper range of 15.5× is conditional on mutation stacks — and triggers guaranteed mutation upgrades every 300 seconds. The combination of the highest raw multiplier plus the most reliable mutation trigger makes it the clear best-in-slot. Extremely rare from the top-tier Egg pool, but worth targeting if you are investing in Eggs.
Kitsune (Prismatic)
Kitsune delivers a 6× earnings multiplier plus a 15% chance to trigger a mutation upgrade every 5 minutes. In a farm where mutations are your primary income lever, a pet that reliably nudges mutation upgrades becomes increasingly powerful as your farm complexity grows. Strong through late game.
Velociraptor (Prismatic)
Velociraptor matches Kitsune at 6× earnings but swaps mutation upgrades for 5-minute Time Skips approximately every 15 minutes. Since Build A Ring Farm’s offline earnings are central to wealth accumulation, automatic Time Skips push your offline cap forward passively while you play. Pairs well with offline-focused farm builds.
Hydra (Secret)
Hydra provides 5× earnings with a 15% mutation upgrade chance every 10 minutes. Slightly below Kitsune on both multiplier and mutation trigger frequency, but Secret rarity and strong all-around stats place it firmly in S tier.
A Tier — Strong choices
Spinosaurus (Secret)
Despite Secret rarity, Spinosaurus lands in A tier because its 6.69× earnings are higher than some S-tier pets, but it only applies strong pet treats (a secondary bonus) every 600 seconds — less impactful than mutation upgrades or Time Skips. Good if you get it early, but actively pursuing it over S-tier pets is not recommended.
Gallimimus (Legendary)
The best accessible pet for mid-game players. 4.87× earnings plus a 25% chance to fully grow random plants every 2 minutes is a significant cycle acceleration. Gallimimus is obtainable from Legendary Eggs, which cost less than Secret or Prismatic Eggs, making it the best value per Egg-dollar among high-tier pets.
Polar Bear (Epic)
Similar activation to Gallimimus but lower multiplier: 3.76× earnings with 20% chance to fully grow a random plant every 2 minutes. A strong Epic-tier option — above average for its rarity, outclassed by Gallimimus and Spinosaurus but worth equipping if you have open pet slots.
B Tier — Solid but outclassed
Mammoth (Legendary)
3.5× earnings with a 10% mutation upgrade chance. Below Gallimimus on both multiplier and ability quality, but still a legitimate Legendary-tier option for players working toward S/A pets.
Lion (Epic)
3.2× earnings plus a 10% super fertilizer chance every 5 minutes. Super fertilizer gives above-average growth boosts. Fine for filling open pet slots in the mid game.
Crocodile (Rare)
2.25× earnings with frequent activations. The best Rare-tier pet by raw multiplier. If you are early in the game and Rare Eggs are your ceiling, Crocodile is the target.
C Tier — Situational
Triceratops (Secret)
Oddly ranked C despite Secret rarity. 5.23× earnings looks strong on paper, but applying “normal pet treats” is the weakest ability type — Super Fertilizer, Time Skips, and mutation upgrades all provide more value per trigger. You would not actively chase a Secret-tier pet for C-tier ability quality.
Gorilla (Rare)
2.12× earnings with guaranteed fertilizer every 900 seconds. Below Crocodile on multiplier, guaranteed (not probabilistic) fertilizer is a minor upside. Functional early on, replaced quickly.
Elephant (Uncommon)
1.43× earnings plus a permanent 1.2× crop yield boost. The passive yield boost is the noteworthy ability here — it applies regardless of equip slot and does not consume activation timers. Still an Uncommon-tier multiplier, but the passive nature is a minor advantage over other C-tier pets.
D Tier — Early placeholders only
Llama (Uncommon)
1.4× earnings. Useful with sprinkler builds but outclassed by essentially everything else once you have a full ring.
Golden Retriever (Common)
1.22× earnings with weak fertilizer. The default starting-quality pet. Sell or replace as soon as you can afford a Rare Egg.
Capybara (Common)
1.22× earnings with a seed luck bonus that increases your chances of finding better seeds. Worth keeping early if you are still seed-hunting; otherwise replace it.
How to get pets in Build A Ring Farm
Pets come from Eggs purchased at the Eggs shop using in-game cash. Egg tiers:
- Common Eggs start at $25 million — roll Common and Uncommon pets.
- Rare Eggs are the first tier that can produce Crocodile-class pets.
- Epic and Legendary Eggs are the primary source of A-tier pets like Gallimimus and Polar Bear.
- Secret and Prismatic Eggs are the late-game pool for T-Rex, Kitsune, Velociraptor, and Hydra.
Each Egg slot produces a random pet from that tier’s pool. You cannot choose which pet you receive. Pet slots on your farm are limited and expandable with in-game currency.
Recommended pet priorities by stage
Early game: Equip any Common/Uncommon pets you have. Farm toward a Rare Egg to get Crocodile (2.25×).
Mid game: Target Gallimimus or Polar Bear from Legendary and Epic Eggs. These give meaningful cycle acceleration that compounds as your ring fills.
Late game: Farm toward Prismatic Eggs for Kitsune or Velociraptor. One S-tier pet in your lineup is a significant income boost over a full A-tier set.
End game: T-Rex from Secret Eggs is the ceiling. The mutation trigger rate on T-Rex compounds most strongly once your farm has a complete mutation chain established.

FAQ
What is the best pet in Build A Ring Farm?
T-Rex (Secret). Its 12×–15.5× earnings multiplier and guaranteed mutation triggers every 300 seconds give it the highest income contribution of any pet currently in the game.
What is the best pet for a new player?
Gallimimus (Legendary) or Polar Bear (Epic). Both are accessible from mid-tier Eggs, and both offer plant growth acceleration that significantly speeds up your early farm cycles.
Are pets a one-time purchase or do they reset?
Pets are permanent. Once a pet drops from an Egg, it stays in your collection.
Do pets work while offline?
Pet passive bonuses (earnings multipliers) apply to offline earnings calculations. Active trigger abilities (fertilizer drops, mutation upgrades) only fire while you are in-game.
How many pets can I equip?
The number of active pet slots is limited and expandable with in-game cash. Expand slots once you have multiple A-tier pets competing for the same slot.
